Experience a natural high at Acacia Health
Experience a natural high at Acacia Health
Did you know that the intense psychological experiences reported by users of cannabis including reduced anxiety, distortions of time estimation, euphoria, enhanced sensory perception and feelings of wellbeing - are strikingly similar to the experience of runner's high.
A new hypothesis, the "endocannabinoid hypothesis" suggests that the physical and psychological wellbeing experienced when exercising is due to the exercise-induced activation of cannabinoids - fats whose actions in the body resemble those of the active constitutent of cannabis. Translation - exercise is a natural drug that makes you feel great!
Let us prove it to you. Our weekly run groups are sure to get your 'cannabinoids' activated, and the following goals will certainly assist in keeping your motivation levels high.
Acacia Health is proud to support the Woman's Cancer Foundation's Fun Run & Walk for Ovarian Cancer around the Tan on Sunday 2 March 2008. Visit www.wecanwalkitout.org for more information and registration details.
On Sunday 30th March 2008, join us as we run/walk through the
Domain tunnel, over the Bolte Bridge with its million dollar views and along the banks of the Yarra, all in the name of creating that "runner's high" and raising money for the Royal Children's Hospital. The 2008 Run for the Kids is going to be big! Register on-line NOW, spots are limited.
Later this year, we will be traveling to the Great Ocean Road for a running festival not to be missed and then to Sydney for the world-renowned "City-to-surf". Both great excuses for a weekend away.
Our run groups are a challenging yet social and fun experience for those simply wanting to improve their fitness or the more serious runner working twoards a specific goal.
